Objectives of Rural Development Programme in India

It is important for a country like India to empower its population both rural and urban with the right skills, competencies, infrastructure, IT platforms, schemes, financial and other resources, science & technology advancements, and agriculture among other necessary things to generate the reliable, competent, proficient, and available human capital to become a supreme power in the world.

Since as compared with the population in urban cities, the rural population is more backward education-wise, health-wise and skills-wise, rural development programme in India serves as the right instrument to help make them forward and equipped. Health is definitely one of the prime concerns covered with powerful schemes in the rural development programmes.

Considering the plight of the rural areas in India, the government of India and various other non-profit organizations have launched several rural development programmes lately. Aimed at connecting the people in remote areas with those in the urban, metropolitan cities via digital technology, e-governance, employment, business & enterprise, healthcare, and other miscellaneous things, these programmes are implemented by the authorized agencies including NGOs.

Going by the saying “health-is-wealth”, the availability and reach ability of Primary Health Care in India rural areas is one of the primary objectives in any rural development programme. Rest objectives are given under here.

1) Introduce education and learning schemes through schools, colleges and universities

2) Introduce vocational trainings and cultural activities

3) Improve literacy rate

4) Improve healthcare & family welfare facilities

5) Reduce infant & maternal death rates

6) Raise general awareness about health, education and agriculture through street plays and

7) Raise employment opportunities in the corporate, semi-government, government undertakings

7) Improve infrastructure by laying more roads, establishing electricity and water works and more

8) Introduce e-governance and other frameworks for speeding up the various procedures related to information, documentation etc

9) Introduce waste management, drainage, sanitary and other established practices to keep rural areas clean and hygienic

10) Improve digital communication services via mobile, satellite and other measures

11) Set up legislative committees to monitor the effective implementation of Rural Development Programme in India and address any grievances.
