Motive of requiring a well-designed, well-equipped, and sustained health education in schools is one of the most important objectives in India. As most of the population of the country is young and among them most of them are in schools and a proper initiative of providing health education in schools will transformed the country’s fate in the long run. Children’s health is the most important concern to the societies and communities. As an improved mental and physical health status of the population will be hugely contribute to the country’s economic, social and political advancement.
Education institutions are now using some modern and improved strategies to help the children in developing their mental and physical strength and for along with this health, nutrition and education have became very important for the overall development of the child. Health education in schools are not only confined to the health related classroom training but also its related to the physical development training like yoga and other physical exercises which will help to define the scope of physical fitness of the children.
The schools have to perform some relevant duties like detection and treatment of defects, creation and maintenance of a hygienic environment in and around the school, measures for promoting positive health which should include the provision of supplementary food to improve the nutritional state of the child, Physical culture through games, sports and gymnastic exercises and through corporate recreational activities, health education through formal instruction but it requires practice of the hygienic mode of life.
India development foundation and other NGOs’ are helping and educating the children in the rural and urban parts of the country about their health. Going forward, these organisations require a synchronised system with the government and educational institutes which will only focus on the standard approach of mandatory health education in school.
